Hello everyone! This is my first blog post on Jenna’s Journey, woot woot (*cringes at own words*)!

To get started, I’d like to share a few random things about myself that I feel are completely necessary (not really) for you to know about me. Some basic information about me can be found on my About Me page; what I am listening below is just a few fun things that most people who know me are honoured (read: could care less) to know. So, without further ado:

  1. I wanted to be a fashion designer for about 10 years of my life. This was a set goal of mine since I was like eight and up until I started attending university tours in grade ten (yes, I was quite the early bird when it came to university searching). The thing that steered me away from this path mostly was my increasing interest in nutrition and the growing realization that a career in fashion design may not provide a stable income. I am a very independent person and hate to rely on others for money. As much as I wish it wasn’t about the money, having security in my career is very important for me when considering what career path to follow. I still love fashion, though. Who knows, I might pick up on designing later in life!
  2. I was the top student in grade 11 and 12 at my high school, and I won the Governor General’s award at my graduation. A couple of people nicknamed me “Genius Jenna,” but I consider myself far from that. I just study. A lot. And have a general interest in learning. And I apply myself. ‘Nuff said.
  3. I’ve never broken a bone. I came close to it when I was very young and smashed my face off my brick fireplace (I don’t even remember it happening…) and messed up my nose. I’ve sprained my fingers, toes, and ankles many times, but that’s about the worst thing that’s happened to me.
  4. I have a fear of balloons. I’m not joking. If I’m in a room with too many balloons and some mischievous people that look like they want to pop them, I’m out of there.
  5. I have an addiction to plain greek yogurt. It’s insane the amount that I eat. I go through one of those 900g containers usually in two days! I regret nothing, though.
  6. I was President of my environmental club at my school. If you’ve read my About page, you’ll know I’m passionate about environmental governance. I’ll be attending the University of Waterloo to study environmental sustainability in less than two weeks. It’s a lot of stress to run a club, but it’s a good stress!
  7. When I’m really stressed, I bite my nails. If you were to see me during exam season or the past few weeks getting ready for university, my nails are just nubs.
  8. My favourite styles of dance are contemporary and hip hop. I love the free flowing movements of contemporary; I also love the sharp, agile attacks in hip hop. They may seem very different, but the two styles are actually quite similar in their origins and where the movements come from in the body.
  9. I could eat popcorn every day. It’s my de-stressing food, and I stress a lot. I make it in an air popper, then drizzle peanut butter and cinnamon all over it! I think there was one point last year where I had it every night for four months in a row…yeah…now I’m at only a few nights a week. I have to learn to scale back because I’m not allowed to bring my air popper to university…
  10. I’ve contemplated starting a blog for years, but I’ve never had the drive to actually do it! It seems like a lot of work (and I know it is), but I’m willing to give it a try. That being said, I’m always up for a challenge. I did have a blog going this time last year for a few weeks, but it was soon forgotten with the craziness of grade 12 hitting me full-swing (I’ll be doing a blog post on surviving grade 12 soon, so stay tuned!). It was a fashion blog, so it was very different than Jenna’s Journey, and I enjoyed it during the time that I ran it.

Well, that’s it for now. I hope you enjoyed getting a bit more insight into my life; there will be plenty more to come in the future!

I’d love it if you were to leave a comment saying hello, and maybe even share one interesting fact about yourself! I think it’s important for writers to interact with their readers 🙂

Until next time,

Jenna
